Breast cancer cryoablation has a proven track record of effectively treating both primary breast cancer and breast cancer that has spread (metastasis).

Immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment, significantly improving success rates. While intravenous (IV) immunotherapy is widely approved and used, it often comes with high rates of side effects and complications. Delivering immunotherapy through an IV means that much of the drug is wasted as it spreads throughout the body, affecting normal tissues. This increases costs, reduces effectiveness, and raises the risk of complications. Additionally, the prolonged treatment duration can allow cancer to mutate and become resistant to therapy.

To address these issues, Intratumoral immunotherapy is emerging as a promising treatment strategy. This approach involves injecting immunotherapy directly into the tumor, especially when combined with local tissue ablation techniques like cryoablation. Cryoablation uses extreme cold to destroy cancer cells, which can enhance the effectiveness of immunotherapy by stimulating a stronger immune response

Cryoablation of a selected tumor volume results in a defined area of tumor destruction, exposing the tumor antigens to the immune system.

Adding intratumoral immunotherapy to the cryo-ablated tissue enhances the immune response to the treated cancer. The intratumoral dose is about 1/100th of the IV dose over time, resulting in almost no side effects or complications. This approach significantly increases the immune response by 25%, reduces overall treatment costs (requiring an average of 3 doses compared to 104 doses for IV), and shortens the treatment duration.
